PRETTY WINGS’ MISSION

Our Mission is to raise public awareness on the impact of breast cancer in the African American community and to educate on the benefits of early detection, effective treatment options, and healthy lifestyle choices.

OUR FOCUS

To promote the importance of learning your family medical history;
To offer the most current research information and treatment options;
To explore nutrition, fitness, and healthy lifestyle choices that lower risks associated with breast cancer;
To educate men about their risk of breast cancer;
To provide a mentorship program for adolescent groups to advocate breast cancer awareness in their community;
To provide reliable resources regarding healthcare and insurance information;
To work with trained professionals to promote emotional and healing support for newly diagnosed patients, survivors, and family and friends who have lost loved ones;
To share hair loss solutions and fashionable clothing and accessory options for women with breast cancer;
To do our part until a cure is found for one of the leading causes of death in our African American community.

WELCOME to PRETTY WINGS. We have created this site specifically for African Americans and other minorities that are being impacted by breast cancer. It is our desire to form alliances with individuals, schools, and organizations that are advocates of education about the disease and treatments and want to empower those faced with the mental, physical and spiritual challenges that occur with breast cancer.

A woman’s best overall preventative health strategy is to reduce her known risk factors as much as possible by avoiding weight gain and obesity (for post menopausal breast cancer), engaging in regular physical activity, and minimizing alcohol intake.
